Falling Apart - an anthem for the anxiously attached
Dorothy - written for a friend who needed to be seen
Dark Eyes - 90's alt-country love song to the bottle
Zirconium - the final throes of denial
Again - gnawing frustration
Ashamed - breaking the cycle in defiance
World's End - wistful love song to a person and a place
Carousel - slow burn for those who can't let go
Rivers in Your Eyes - a celebration, a gift
My, Oh My - controlled chaos, warm resolve

Black Book has been a work in progress for a long, long time. Some of the songs are nearly twenty years old - written in what feels like a completely different lifetime. It's only been in the last few years; post-COVID, really, that I decided to fully embrace the process of writing, arranging, recording and ultimately release some of these very intimate and vulnerable moments, feelings and relationships that I've had the incredible luck to experience.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who has made this a reality. Zack Eldridge has been a driving force of my creative life lately. He has encouraged me to explore expressing myself in ways I've always wanted to. Nick West has always been game to play music - new, old, original or not. He's shown me how to create a life in music that is casual and fun, yet professional and desirable. James Collins is such a joyous human, and has been down for literally whatever since we met. I can always count on his positive attitude and willingness to shift with the winds.

And I cannot NOT mention my incredible wife, Carly Kincannon. Without her, I can confidently say that this album would not have happened. One of my mottos for the longest time was 'there's so much amazing music out there - there's no real need for me to even try' - and, well, Carly finally broke me of this. She's been interested, supportive, and curious. She's celebrated me through every recording session. She has filled the room with cheers when there's no one in the audience. She's held me when what I've written has proven too much to hold myself, and I am so, so lucky to have her in my life.

And thank you. Thanks for being here and celebrating with us this evening. I sincerely hope there's something in this project for everyone.
